The Record Connection in Waterville, ME - 30,000 lps on multiple floors, second floor are all $1 each.

If you need directions and live in Maine I suggest you go lol. Also as a side note they are all in fantastic shape, they won't sell junk.

Thanks, but a bit late. I managed to get to BackBeat and Concerto so I think I did well. Amsterdam was very nice and Concerto is an awesome record shop so I managed to get a few records. Didn't find anything worth getting in Dublin unless you count a CD called Blind Man Blues which was 5 Euro and I'll see if it reveals a few gems I can follow up.

In Nottingham we have Robs Records. He doesn't have a website, twitter or facebook presence. In fact I'm not sure he even has a phone

If you like your shops to be a bit on the unkempt side then Robs is for you.

He's tidied the place up a bit. But not much.

I came across a 2nd hand record/cd/dvd store in Lampeter in mid-Wales last week:
Hag's Record Shop
23 Bridge Street
Lampeter
Dyfed
SA48 7AA

Not a bad selection and friendly staff.
Cheers

I recently visited New York on holiday, staying in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

I visited a number of vinyl stores, but best were :

Westsider Records
233 West 72nd Street
(bet B.way & W.E.A. Next to FedEx)
New York, NY 10023
(212) 874 1588

http://westsiderbooks.com/recordstore.html

Great second-hand vinyl collection, very friendly and interesting owner. Chatted with him about Miklos Rozsa. Also sell Books. large collection of 60's Rock and also a very large classical section.

I also picked up some new Vinyl at :

Rebel Rebel Records
319 Bleecker St
(between Christopher St & Grove St)
New York, NY 10014
Neighborhood: West Village

Tiny shop with stuff stacked all around, so hard work if more than three people in the shop, but great selection. I got a double LP and friendly owner provided cardboard packaging (as used in mailorder) so it would survive the journey back in my suitcase. Some reviewers say he's expensive, but for me it was a 1:1 $:£, so still scheap i.e $16 for a double creedance compilation on new vinyl.

I also went into Bleecker records in the same street which, while much , much bigger, didn't happen to have anything I wanted and the staff didn't seem very interested. maybe I caught them on a bad day

i went to Guildford. I managed to miss

Collectors Record Centre
89C Woodbridge Road, City Centre, Guildford GU1 4QD

Only noticing it as I drove home

however I got some nice vinyl from

Bens Records on Tunsgate, Guildford. Great shop, stacked high with albums, had to crawl around on the floor and under tables. Most stuff was around £2. Didn't find any rock albums I was after, but his classical boxes were full of gems, lots of jazz and 78's too. Also got Soundtracks to Battle of Britain and Lion in Winter. Both for £2 each !
he has rather a lot of stock, so the racks are utterly stuffed, you have to remove a couple of inches of albums to be able to thumb through the remaining, lot of duplicates (Carol King Tapestry anyone ? I counted 5, 50% of the Metal section was made up of bat out of Hell, and it was quite a large section) plus crates of VHS tapes, but minor quibbles and added to the fun.

Run by a Really nice friendly enthusiastic guy. Has a couple of Record Fairs coming up, see:

Voxbox is a newly opened vinyl shop in Edinburgh. This week I Picked up nice copies of :

Family Music in a dolls House,
Byrds Younger than yesterday
Jethro Tull Aqualung.

Very friendly owner. Plenty of vinyl for £1.50, though above were £8-£10, but are excellent condition.

Grimey's New and Preloved Music in Nashville, TN. Huge selection with a huge range in genres. Also crates upon crates of dollar records, found a couple cool things in there. Too many indie/punk/funk/local 45s to even go through.
