That's still a cracking good album. The first 3 marillion albums get fairly regular 'airplay' in my house.

Great thread! I started talking about this with my wife and my two sons and we came up with a top 10. :)

1. Boston - Boston
2. Van Halen - Van Halen
3. Pat Benatar - In the Heat of the Night
4. Cars - Cars
5. Gun's & Roses - Appetite for Destruction
6. Foreigner - Foreigner
7. Heart - Dreamboat Annie
8. Dire Straits - Dire Straits
9. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
10. Metalica - Kill 'em All

I think it's funny that so many of these debut albums are named after the band.

A Classic with some fine prog touches. Every progfan should have this. 8)

My personal choices are Glue by Laghonia and the self titled debut by Heron.

Hi, I agree with many of the choices on here and regularly play and enjoy Zep, Sabbath, Dire Straits, Talking Heads etc and their popularity will always win votes in polls.

My own vote goes to Gentle Giant \:D/

1.Metallica-Kill em all
2.Guns & Roses - Appetite for destruction
3.Pearl Jam-Ten
4.Stevie Ray Vaughan-Texas Flood
5.Lagwagon-Duh
6.Silent Civilian-Rebirth of the temple
7.Tarkio-I guess I was hoping for something more
8.Stone Temple Pilots-Core

The last 2 are a couple bands from Nova Scotia Canada that released good debuts in the last few years

Tom Fun Orchestra-You Will Land With a thud

I don't think these have been mentioned yet. Since most listed have been from the Rock world I thought I would throw in a few Pop.

Johnny Cash with His Hot and Blue Guitar
Elvis Presley - Self Titled
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Self Titled
The Momas and The Papas - If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears

For extra the first Monkees album, laughable to some but I love it.
This Album was NOT mixed though the Aphex Aural Exciter.

Recently, I've been blown away by "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart" debut.
