ROME by Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi. A tribute of sorts to Morricone, they've gone so far as to feature session musicians and vocalists who worked with the maestro himself. Featuring vocals by Jack White and Norah Jones. Fantastic mood music.
I know it's only rock & roll, but I like it.

Van Cliburn playing Beethoven Piano Concerto #3, with Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy.
RCA LSC-3238. a "dynaflex" LP which is very thin. Pleasantly surprised with its very good sound and freedom from warping (just like it says in its marketing text).

Van Cliburn takes it at a slow tempo savoring the lower midrange and bass of the piano. His deliberate pace puts the slow movement on the brink of falling apart. But there is a certain beauty to savoring the musical phrases all along the concerto. Quite different from the almost inexorable interpretation by Gary Grafmann on RCA Victrola. but both are effective in different ways.

I recently gave my copies of Sad Wings of Destiny and Sin After Sin to my local hospice shop as I no longer listen to their music . Hopefully someone else will now appreciate them .

Hi,
did you guys see the recent photo of Paul McArtney being kissed by Lady Gaga? Paul looks old in that picture, and these bogus photos should be forbidden! I know Paul is a lot younger than that photographer made him look. Have you ever...? Pheeeeew.
