Hello bauzace50 & bastlnut

Good to hear from you. Tullio Serafin was a great conductor. Singers from days gone by of course includes Richard Tucker and especially his cousin Jan Peerce, preferably partnered by Licia Albanese.

Of a bit later vintage, who knows the delights of Anita Cerquetti?

i am partial to the female voice, in both styles, in classic and modern. Licia Albanese is a great voice. i remember the name Anita Cerquetti, but could not find anything fron her in my collection yet. i need to hear the voice sometimes to know where to look.

today was a day for Patti Smith and her newest album Trampin'. followed by the Brahms sextet again.

who knows what tonight will bring?!?

Hello bastlnut

There are lots of stuff on Anita Cerquetti on the Web. I have only 1 10" Decca (La Gioconda) - Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with la Cerquetti, Simionato, Del Monaco, Siepi and Bastianini. I also have a (unpronouncable) err digital recording (Decca 440 411-2) which is well worthwhile having. Others I like are Lucia Popp, Mirella Freni and so on.

Can't listen tonight as I should be working milling Mantis bodies. Maybe there could be time for a Brotto sambuca or a little port later.

Cheers

Hi, your website is great and very helpful. I got a question, I just brought a used TD166MKII on ebay for $127 (is it good deal?) do you know that where I can order a set of hinge for my Thorens TD166MKII (see pic or link below)? And any idea how to redo the RCA output plugs? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

thanks a lot
Kam

Clearaudio is issuing some highly interesting LPs! They reissued highlights (highlights only) of one favorite set of mine: Die Zauberflote with Fritz Wunderlich/ Karl Bohm! The pressing is beautiful, and the cover also. The sound is magnificent! Natural Natural Natural! The splendor of Wunderlich lives on so excitingly! Pity he died before doing more Mozart for the world!
There are different stories about his death, but all coincide that it was a fatal accident. Does anyone have the truth behind the accident? Was it casual, or causal? Doesn't matter, his artistry made us all the better for it, and prematurely truncated.

Hi Carlos & Everyone

I have the Karl Bohm box with Wunderlich. As far as I can recall, Fritz W. fell of the steps of a hunting lodge. Whether it was causal or an accident, I don't know. Could also be the affliction suffered by Jussi Bjorling...

Now, what is it to be tonight? Hhmm I think I'll go for Weber's Der Freischutz with Gottlob Frick, Elisabeth Grummer & Rudolf Schock - especially for Grummer's Agatha's Cavatina. Then, to Flotow's Martha with Anneliese Rothenberger, Brigitte Fassbaender, Gedda, Prey et al and I'll finish with Callas and La Boheme with di Stefano, Moffo and Panerai at La Scala conducted by maestro Votto.

So, do we have a new cartridgemaker in Puerto Rico and the re-birth of the GEC? It does take a lot of money but the nightwork is very heavy.

Regards to all

Well, those vocal recordings are truly special, Blue Angel! And, no, I would never go into rolling my own cartridges, except for ordering replacement stylii and/or cantilevers from specialists! I don't have the capital for it, nor the inclination. Keep up those wonderful vocal recordings!

Hi bastlnut

Song to the moon/Oh Silver Moon. I have them with Lucia Popp and Pilar Lorengar. Maybe the Hound of the Baskervilles was a lady opera singer reincarnated...
