Ry Cooder / Manuel Galbán

Mambo Sinuendo

Neat pressing, four sides, very little time per side. Sounds fantastic.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

My mum used to listen to this on radio 4 in the kitchen and along with my addiction to the 2000 AD comic (robo hunter/ nemesis the warlock anyone?) this predated my love of music. I bought the LP years later and digging it out tonight still makes me laugh

Let's go for me, my last listens before my TT began to let me down lol

-The Who - Who's Next? Still one of the most accomplished albums of the 70'S in my opinion....just talking about won't get fooled again give me chills lol
-The Doors - Strange Days (well, no comment, the title speak for itself, a beauty, and a jewel which i'll play endlessly on my turntable - well, when i change it lol)
-And the Last one i listened to: Abbey Road - The Beatles, an album which had always been underestimated, for obscured reasons. Just listen to the song(s) of the Side 2 to understand why the Beatles were genius!

Hi everybody!

Here a Record (double) that is breaking my heart: Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin - because i bought it a few days ago thinking that i could save it even if it was a little tired, but in reality, the 2nd vinyl s curved like the INdianapolis SPeedway lol

So, i just listened to the first Record (at least Kashmir gave me a looong moment of pleasure)...But anyway, patience will leed me to find another in good conditions!

good listens everybody!

PS: Bastlnut, don't you think Sgt. Pepper is a bit overestimate as one of the best Beatles albums? (i don't know, the White ALbum for example is technically far far above sgt pepper...)

To make a change...

Two albums that have entertained me (when I'm not tied to the computer..composing ditties)

"An Evening With Beatrice Lillie" Decca LK4129/London 5212. 1955
Great performances of such standards as:
"There are fairies at the bottom of our garden"

"Movin" Kay Starr (no relation to Ringo LOL)
Capitol Stereo ST1254 - original pressing from 1959.
Fantastic sound -Ballsy/Dynamic performances
Great pair of lungs!

A less recherche choice here.

One of my favourite albums (non-classical).

LAURA NYRO: "New York Tendaberry" CBS63510 (1969)

This is one I kept from a small collection I bought 10 years ago - most of the others (Brain Salad Surgery/Strawbs, etc) I sold to pay for the parts to repair the Quad ESL57s that I'd purchased as part of the 'deal'.

Nice Screamer!

one of the last records...

Postby Swell41 » 13 Jul 2005 10:32

here is one of the last records which will be spinning on my SL-Q200 (i'm going to have a TD 145 MKI :-D ) is Counterfeit² - Martin L. Gore. I bought it yesterday brand new 6€, just curious of the quality of a record that is made today...Well, that's a pretty heavy vinyl pressing, and the sound is not as bad as i thought at all (of course the source is certainly numeric).

Anyway, it's a good good effort from a man who could be called "the Heart of Depeche Mode", with a serie of covers brillantly interpreted. I recommende it for every fan of DM.
