dual 505-mk2 turntable pitch problems

Postby wotdog » 04 Jul 2012 22:32

Hiya All at the engine,,just a quick question,,i lent a mate this turntable and having forgot about it for a couple of years i asked for it back off my mate,,anyway to cut it short i dont know what he has done to it but i think the pitch mechanism is knackered on it.I even bought a new motor thinking it was the motor but alas it was not,,upon opening the turntable i noticed that for some strange reason the pitch belt is missing if it has one at all or if it has a spring mechanism i dont know,,but i have looked on the vinylengine and downloaded the schematics for it but i cannot make head nor tail of it as im not Albert Einstein and to me its like a rubics cube,,i dont want to throw it away as it is in excellent condition apart for the pitch issue,,,does anyone have a clearer drawing on the assembly of the pitch mechanism for me please,,,,thanks in advance John

Finding a pitch belt may be more of a problem than putting it on! I'm not sure of anyone who has a supply of them and when they show up on ebay they can go for $40.00 US. used. Try downloading a few different models service manuels some are clearer pictures than others and it's the same basic set up on belt drive units. If I spot one in the near future I'll get back to you! The belt mechanism looks something like this

Musonic list the original belt but it's not cheap. It's probably better then the o-ring mod that some eBay seller are offering though?

I've replaced pitch belts with the o-ring mod on a couple of turntables and they have been perfectly satisfactory. A UK seller on ebay offers them at a reasonable price and also throws in illustrated instructions.

Hi you guys,,its me again,,still having a few little problems with my Dual 505-2 turntable,,i have finally managed to sort out the motor and the 33/45 switch,,big Thank you to Colin T for all his help and pictures on how to fix the dual,,I was lost without Colin's help,,anyway the problem now seems that every time the record comes to the end it runs off correctly then arm lifts up but then it cuts out and all shuts down with the arm still in lifted position at end of record. Can anyone out there please help on this issue as im sure im very close now to listening to my vinyl's all over again,,,,Also guys does anyone know where i can get an Nagaoka Mp11 stylus from as the ones i have seen seem to be really over priced,,,Thanks Again guys,,,John

It's supposed to do that, it's called auto stop.
