Dual 1264 tone arm will not move horizontally

My dual 1264 worked great till yesterday.

Now the tone arm will not move horizontally.
I can choose start the arm will lift up but not move onto the record.

If I manually move it, it will play but once it reaches the end it again does not move horizontally back to the rest position.

Any suggestions on what to try or look for?

Problem repaired!

I know of a few people who have the exact same problem, and now I found the solution.

In case someone in the future needs to repair a similar symptom on the Dual 1264, or other similar Duals with the same basic layout, I will post pictures of what I did to fix the problem and provide the link.

By the way, for the Dual 1264 you can easily use the DUAL 1228 service manual from this site as it has a very close to identical layout. Thanks to Vinyl Engine for hosting these great service manuals! A true treasure!!!

ck: Do a search for "Steuerpimpel" - most probably that'll be your problem.

P.S.: As you'll need to lift the chassis out of the plinth to replace the Pimpel anyway, I'd suggest to also check the infamous Knallfrosch and the phase shifter cap(s), while you're at it...
