Hello to all,
Please be patient. My background is in mechanical engineering but I am a novice when it comes to turntables.

I am trying to repair my friends Dual 1264 turntable. This unit has not been played for about 20 years. During a preliminary look over I discovered the following problems.

01. 33 1/3 records will not drop when stacked on the AW 3 changing spindle. I cleaned the spindle thoroughly. I can not figure out the mechanism that activates the lower three pawls. The upper pawls work when I manually depress the lower shaft of the spindle.
02. The release rocker arm (AW) was frozen from non use.
03. The changer actuator rod, which is activated by the release rocker arm (AW) had limited movement due to lack of lubricant.
04. The pitch control belt (109) is broke.
05. The tone arm will not do it's thing. It just raises up and down the then
the machine shuts off. This probably occurred during improper transit.

The difficultly with this unit is the quantity and complexity of the linkages. In my opinion, the service manual leaves a little to be disired and is directed toward trained technicians. But if anyone has any suggestions, as to what my next step should be, your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Ted

Did you ever find a solution to this problem above?

I developed the exact same problem!! I was playing a record and lift the arm by hand and moved it to the rest and locked it. Since then I have the exact problem you mention. Prior to that my unit worked great!

I wonder could I have caused something to disconnect? I have looked inside and found nothing loose, nothing broken. I cleaned all the old grease to be safe no problem

There is no service manual that diagrams the 1264 to a great detail.

Does anyone know of any solution?

I wonder should anything push or pull the tonearm to move it onto the record? I cant find that in the manual.

Im really desperate for help and ideas!
