Does anyone have any experience with this type of CANTON Discostat? Came on an old DUAL 1219 I just purchased. Any documentation available?

Used it for many years on my Dual 601.
The first models came with a fosfor/bronze tracking bristle at the front, later models employed a carbon fibre bristle. (The latter possibly due to complains or fear from users that the fosfor/bronze bristles could damage the Groove)
I used both and never had any issue about that. I see you mis the Bristle. It doesn't bother because tracking without is also okay. The only thing wich isn't working now is the anti-static function because these bristles were meant to conduct static electricity to the ground connection of the Amplifier. That's why it is wired.

Actually, this still has what looks like a copper brush, although it is somewhat bent.

Ah, you do have it complete! Couldn't see it clear on the first pict perhaps.
It is a real job with patience, but you could unravel the whirl of Copper; at least this is the third kind of material on the Canton. (never seen it before) Or if you find a piece of insulated Copperwire of very fine structure you could use it as replacement. Bent it upwards in a bow shape, so it skates on top of the record groove and you are absolute sure it will not harm your records

This is the ground wire! Dont put it on your records! you need a Carbon brush.

EDIT: Sorry, didnt see that this is an old Thread :?
