CS 5000 parts

Postby rhomanski » 03 Aug 2012 18:07

Recently I opened up my table to try and help William13 find an adjustment screw. Since I had to take the top off completely I decided to go ahead and refurb it. I found all of the transistors and the opamp are still available but the microprocessor is not. A few of the transistors are about to disappear though. One has been obsoleted already and stocks are depleting fast. Old stock of the microprocessor can be found if you search hard enough. If anyone is interested, mine is now done and working like new, should be good for another 20 some years.

Regards,

Ron.

I am thinking of buying another CS-5000 to use as a spare parts turntable, just in case something does break. I would really miss the semi-auto feature on my Dual. :(

I know what you mean. I like my dual best of my tables. If I lose the lift lever or something, another table would be necessary. I would try the Dual places first though. They have a lot of the one off parts. I don't think they have the circuit board parts though.

I did find a microprocessor on Ebay. I just hope it's not a Chinese knock-off. They have been flooding the market with rare counterfeit parts for a couple years now.

Anyone have a good source for proper belts?

I just splurged on a CS-5000 for xmas for myself. Got a steal I think (190 on ebay), considering most listed I've seen have a first bid price closer to 300 and BIN for 600$ ballparks.

Seller stated it has that sync-start issue, which requires the speed select workaround, but otherwise anything else I should clean up/lube/check right away?

It's also one of the black ones, which I'd yet to see listed. Maybe they are less desirable... but they seem to be less available too? I'd have preferred the wood visible, but at that price I'll take it.

Any thoughts if it should replace the 1219 at the stereo, or sit at the desk for ripping/headphones?

Now just wish me luck and hope that UPS doesn't trash it.

Thanks,
Ryan

I have seen a CS-5000 advertised, that was originally black, but had been veneered. It looked pretty good.

Cheers,
Alec

This is where I bought the correct belt. The aftermarket ones cause the quartz lock to search endlessly for 33 RPM, I am not sure why this is.
