CS 505-1 ( noise @ right channel )

Postby joemolls » 17 May 2012 00:16

Ciao,
I've bought a 505-1 TT few weeks ago from ebay.

Everything seemed to work fine but first I had a problem with the cartridge (still alive) and now I'm having trouble with the Black RCA Plug / right channel.

So I was Thinking.

Everything works fine the first 10-20 minutes but after this time I can't hear anything but a soft noise from the right speaker and I need to shake the RCA cables to repair the situation but unfortunately this workaround does not always works. I've checked all the cables and they are OK, I've put some of lube on the bearings, I've checked the tonearm... can't figure out where is the problem.

Sometimes I need to turn-off my amp wait few seconds and restart it.

Any suggestion will be appreciated !!!
JM

ps
my amp is a brand new Denon + JBL es30ch speakers

Finally I've understood: It was the screw that holds together the tonearm head and the cartridge+stylus. The space between those two is more evident now, and sometimes I need to reduce it with fingers.

As i supposed I need to definitively change the cartridge.

Do I need to look foor an original tks or is better to think about an upgrade ?
