By the way, lots of weird stuff here, if you're into collecting those records like I am...

those ones with the double hole were cut at home on a portable lathe. I have lots of them my grand dad made and some from me as a little kid. You could cut and play the record on the same machine.

I have cases of old 78's this is a interesting one. Often listed as one of the first rock and roll song's. For some reason it won't let me do the youtube link thing. here is the full link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=663jQejHp54&t=5s. It is one I put up on youtube.

Here's some more information on Jack Guthrie, and his music. In fact this website is a treasure trove of early country, hillbilly, rockabilly music. Quite interesting.

The title('s) for 1st rock & Roll song is quite a subjective list. So many artists were picking up things from one another. But we all know, without the blues, there'd be no r&r baby.

While thrifting today, I found these in the record racks...

Kinda fun, if you're a bit of a classic video game nerd like I am...Of course, I have a few of these Atari cartridges, an old Magnavox Odyssey with the joysticks, console, games, the works and an old Texas Instruments TI-99/4a, as well as the original Nintendo...I don't play with them often, but they all work! I received one of those retro Flashback consoles with all the games included for Christmas (as a gift from some well-meaning family members...) and these might be good for explaining some of the game rules to my niece and nephew, should they ever decide they want to challenge me to a game or two someday!

I've seen laserdiscs and calendars in with the LPs on occasion.

I've also got that Phil Spector Back to Mono CD set they mention.

Hi
I don't know how weird or odd it is but I found a disco type of record from DJ Speedy called Goorz. An example of what a Beat Box can do but, the odd thing is that one of the sides plays from in to out.
After I've tried to put the record playing "normally", placing the needle on the outer side of the record, and get the arm through out of the plate, I tried to put it on the middle of the record and, surprise, it started to play well but the arm was coming to the outside!

I never seen such thing. Is it "normal"?

Best regards

Gonçalo

Quite unusual but nothing stopping anyone from cutting a record from the inside to the outside. Can't see any advantage. Another anomaly was the Monty Python record which had 2 grooves on one of the sides, you didn't know which one would play.

A few weird things have been done over the years, but not normal!

Here are a few more oddball records I found in my recent travels...

I recently picked up these two buttons at my local antique show in honor of my dad, who loved these guys and introduced me to their TV shows...

42371

...So I had to buy these 78 rpm sets when I saw them...

42443
42444

My antique show also yielded these odd discs...

42391
42392
42377

Some Mickey Mouse records...

42445
42446
42447

And the oddest one of them all is this one! Maybe you guys could help me figure out WHAT exactly this flexi-disc was for? :-k

42450
42451

It has Braille markings on the back...

42448
42449

Very peculiar, indeed! :-k

Well, along with my trip to 2nd & Charles today, I found THESE THREE ODDITIES (Of course, I really only bought them because I like WEIRD STUFF! )...

A record of hairstyling tips...

42686

A record of photography tips...

42687

...and a yoga record!

42688

A strange trio, indeed...

I'm not sure about that, but when finding albums like this, one wonders WHO the target audience was for these exactly... :-k
