So he's back in business again? According to Companies house the Transcriptors company hasn't done any business since it last rose from the ashes back in 2013, but if Michael really is back and trading under the company name then 3rd time lucky 8-[

PS note to potential overseas customers, the 'Limited' in the name might sound impressive but it simply means that the company has been set up in such a way that Michael isn't personally liable for any losses to you or his suppliers should he suffer any unforeseen trading difficulties (splitting up with girlfriends, dog eating homework etc).

Michael Gammon

Post by jaapschaap » 01 Mar 2017 05:43

Goodmorning, found this site some time ago, to late I think. I've send my Transcriber to Michael Gammon 3 years ago. He made an offer for repairs and I accepted. Nothing after that, he still has my turntable and doesn't react on my messages. Still feel terrible about it, every day. Any advice?

Our trading standard "service" are not interested in helping, I only lost £60 in August 2012.

I have sent all of the statutory letters re distance trading still no help from "trading standards" or City Police (fraud) unfortunately others have lost a lot more; Caveat emptor...

I thought perhaps he was playing ball nowadays, he was contributing to a Facebook group I'm a member of and had been fairly regular on Twitter but I've not heard anything from him in the last month or so.

Michael is still at it. I got lucky and received most of my small order after threats of my lawyer. The belt he sent had a lump in it, and the pads were too tall.
I want to post again the U.S. info for Michell source. I wish I had found it sooner.

Not sure about other London local authorities, in Islington the council is a joke. They either pass you from pillar to post, everyone in the chain as unhelpful as the next, or don't even answer the switchboard. Joke costing £50pm per person.

Small claims courts are the only answer for some issues these days.Funnily enough, Islington council is very helpful in advising taxpayers on how to take out private prosecutions. Anything to avoid doing the work themselves.

If he is trading again, get advice about taking him to a small claims court in the UK.Not sure how that would work as you are in Holland. Worth checking out, though.

His "Online shop" link goes to an Etsy page where there are belts and other parts for sale. Etsy is good about dealing with complaints about shops. Try their "Report this shop to Etsy" link if you have a problem with the seller.

Hi Kurt45, thank you . . . .
I've followed your suggestion!
I hope that Etsy is involved!

ok, fair is fair. to make it short, i needed a spindle for a hydraulic reference i am restoring for a friend. i have unsuccessfully dealt with young mr. gammon in the past so we don't need to go into that. however, i saw that he was using etsy and they accepted PayPal, which means at least i could get my money back. i'm in los angeles, calif. usa. i placed the order and it arrived 10 days later, as nice as you please. good luck, mark
