Too late for me, got an Origin Live upgrade. It is a superb upgrade over the standard AC motor but as a mod originally developed with the LP12 in mind I have had to pay LP12 prices!

On the Origin DC motor upgrade:

How is the speed stabilty? My previous experiance with a DC motor belt drive dates back to my old Phillips GA 212. Speed drift with that was a constant issue.

It is very stable and it is that metronomic stability that makes it special combined with its lack of rumble. The motor has plenty of torque and the whole thing suits a setup with heavier platter. It hasn't been without issues, the first one went back because it wasn't stable but it wasn't subtle it was varying between 33rpm and a lot less. They did confirm a faulty control box. Ultimately listening is the test and after listening I am very happy.

Project 16v Motor With Speedbox 11 Into "connie" B

Postby cairns4me » 26 Jul 2011 16:21

Guys....
I've commenced stripping down my" new to me" Connoisseur BD1 table.
It will be fitted with a Micro Seiki CF-1 Carb fiber arm.
Original motor is fine having stripped it too and refurbished.
The motor suspension is fine. New belts are about to land next day or so. Nice plinth and hinged lid in immac cond' so all good.
Just doing rewiring now and thought about transplanting a Project RPM5 motor which is 16vAC Synchronous and will cost in Aust about $70.00 inc postage.Having seen a Project 16v motor its size and outer housing configuration seems ideal and with Speedbox providing the "sine wave power" it should sound sweet. I have a Speedbox11 already for the motor.
Now I need to consult you Engineering minded members: The original BD1 motor is 230vAC synchronous and spins at 375RPM at 50Hz.(mains freq in Australia)
I am unsure of the RPM of the Project motor; I have read many posts in several threads (inc the proposed Project 16v motor into an AR table but nothing conclusive as yet...) but I'm not an electronics engineer by any means..but handy in turntable restorations having done 7 of various makes. If the Project spins same rpm then it should be smooth-as...All advice will be appreciated. Cheers.

This is not an Acoustic Research turntable. The manufacturer was A.R. Sugden, a completely unrelated company. You'll probably get better results posting this to the general turntable forum.

Gee thanks for telling me that- I'd never have guessed that a Connie isn't an AR............................................................
The point of putting MY Connie query in this thread is that the technicalities and proposed transplant is the same......

In that case, you might be surprised at how many people come in here making that very mistake. Apologies if you're not one of them.

Help me please.
I have thorens 150 MKII, a new 16v thorens motor and a pro-ject speed box II.
What should I do now to get the motor working with the present thorens on/off switch? How should I integrate pro-ject speed box in the TT?
Should I remove caps and resistor from this schematics?
http://www.theanalogdept.com/images/spp ... ainweb.jpg
Do I need just to connect speedbox output cord in place of AC main of thorens (two black cords in the bottom?)
Should I remove any caps? Will on\off switch work?

Might want to bring this up at the Thorens forum as you are talking mostly Thorens gear and not a single piece of Acoustic Research.
