Phil,
The thing IMO is get a power supply like a Mose/Hercules and the belt will never have to leave the 33 1/3 pulley again and I bet it sound better to.

How much would such a power-supply be, would it be easy to fit and what benefits would I have from it?

Of course it needed the outer section of the platter on there to lower the central platter to the correct height. Simple physics.

I was testing the rotation without it - what a complete dickhead.

Guys, thanks for solving this for me...and I'll clean the pulley in a while. First, I have to go somewhere and get these rocks out of my head.

So is it good now? When I put on my last belt I was beside myself trying to keep it from flying off. Then I put the belt on and all the platter and so forth, then it started fine with belt staying on. This is why you come here, when you just cant figure it out, it helps to have another have a look!

Glad it worked out for you. This table is capable of excellent performance. I would strongly recommend the Merrill mods sold through vinylnirvana.com. Start with the extended studs and springs. If I remember you have a mission arm? If that's the case, get a Merrill delrin arm board, or if bucks up, the whole sub chassis....the arm board and better than stock arm, springs and the lead mat transformed mine to another level. Now that I have the whole collection, it went even higher. But it was amazing what an improved arm, arm board, spring kit and lead mat could do.

The last item added was the perimeter ring/clamp...this was one of the largest improvements

Sorry to bump an old thread, but anyone tried these:

or these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300590215077? ... 554wt_1110

Neither is a huge amount of money to test, but if anyone has already tried these and knows if either is any good it'll save me the trouble !

I guess not then - I'll probably order one from both, and then provide an update on both as to whether they are any good or not
