I got my rig back up and running. I notice I have a hum/noise coming from the pulley that can be heard when there's silence in the room. is this normal? I don't think it was there with the stock pulley. it's faint, as in you have to be standing right next to the table, but it is there.

I installed one of these pulleys. I love the fact, that once coupled with the TTPSU, I don't need to remove the platter to play 45's.

However, I too am getting noise. It's definitely coming from the motor (tested by removing the belt, and just powering up the motor), just not sure which part of the motor. I currently have a few mm clearance between the pulley and the "neck", and it's definitely been oiled.

Could I have the pulley on too high ?

Problem fixed.
It seemed the thrust bearing I was using was pushing the motor spindle all the way up.
I had an SRM-Tech thrust bearing that I initially dismissed. I put it back on, and adjusted so it raised the spindle only slightly. Dead silent now.

It would fit, but you would lose the capability to play a 45 on the P3.
Unless you add a TT PS from a third party.

Unfortunately you would have to do one of two things if you replace the pulley.

The reason being, the Lim pulley works on what would be the 33 1/3 pulley diameter so you would have to purchase the Rega 24V motor kit in order use the power supply from Rega. This would allow you to play both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records.

The other option is more difficult if you want a dual pulley since the only after market power supply I would recommend works off the 45 rpm pulley so you would need a dual pulley machined with the 45rpm pulley diameter.
This would allow you to play both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records.

Or as Bacobits noted, you would lose the ability to play 45's.

Thanks folks. I have so little 45rpm content that isn't much of an issue for me (might upgrade the PSU later on...).

I was more concerned about the pulley, which early in this thread is described as being needing to be 'shaved' in some TT's. But sounds good to me!

Hi Etnier,

The stainless steel dual pulley is of the same height as the plastic pulley of planar 3. So it should fit. If you do wish to play 45 lps' occasionally, the stainless steel standard pulley (33.3/45rpm) could be your choice.

I don't know if I have missed something here ... but why would you want to fit a Dual Pulley on the OL motor?
The design of my OL motor/pulley allows 2 white belts to be fitted to it - 1 @ the top of the taper & 1 @ the bottom!
Mine works brilliantly:-)
