LOL  My photo-IQ is still increasing... The mirror up mode was a big improvement for me, not too long ago.
I often use F1.8 up to F3.5 to be able to focus on certain parts of the image.

I try to take the best possible pictures without the need for hard work in Photoshop afterwards.

Hmmm if only I could decide if I should go with a white delrin platter or a black delrin platter for my all black P3-24. Thought I'd go with black for the stealth look (plus it's in stock right now), but after seeing all of your tables with the white I'm wondering if I should go for a dash of color?

Things have changed......

I have had a rule for my tweaks for a long time, they were going to be reversible.
Well, not any longer.

Bolts for fastening the arm all the way methinks? That means drilling holes...

The drill-through tweak has long been an interesting and logical thing to do.
The "threads" in the plinth are quickly worn out and no longer possible to tighten evenly on all three holes.
With the first and only cartridge on my P5 the problem wasn't there on my table, but I have to keep this thread going, right?

Old screws removed

Loosen the signal cables, and the arm is free.

Ready steady GO!

Holes :)

Shims, and then the cable. Would be a shame to forget the shims...

Actually I was surprised by the weight and quality feel of the arm.
Don't really get to look at the arm that way once it is installed.

Thanks to D from overseas I got to try this tweak for free. :)

Of course the first impressions are a mix of expectation bias mixed with all the things you are told you are going to hear....

So. I'll wait a while before I confirm my first impressions, because they are quite positive!

Nice photos as always, Mr. Da! They certainly couldn't come at a better time for me: I'd link to these posts on the drillthrough thread if I could figure out how, but I don't think it can be done.

ON EDIT: Do you mind if I just post the images there as a set, with credit to you of course?

With all due respect, this could be the 'jumped the shark' moment of this very excellent thread. :o

Well sir, I hope not.
The drill through tweak has been on my mind for a long time.
One of the wooden screws on my arm base has "lost it's threads" probably when the dealer installed the shims together with the Ortofon Rondo Blue.

If I tried to tighten that screw, it just spun round with very little resistance.
The drill through tweak seemed to be the logical thing to do.

This thread has to come to it's end eventually, but hopefully it can be some sort of help for members looking to find out how some of the popular Rega tweaks are performed. That's why I go the extra mile to take pictures and describe them.

There are more tweaks that are possible, but I don't want to go crazy...
Change arm-cable? Nope, too risky and not shure I'll like the change in sound.
Motor base? Nope, I want to keep my Rega in one piece.

Time to look for a new cartridge maybe..?

Best regards
Rolf
