Just want to add that I received a white delerin platter last night.
Such a beautiful piece. My only gripe is that I can no longer see the sub-platter !

It seems with each upgrade (TT-PSU, sub-platter, srm-tech silent-base), the music and details become more refined, more precise, more everything !

I wish I had my TT at work right now

I'll try to get some photo's done on the weekend, but be warned, I'm a film guy, so it takes ages to do anything !

Just stumbled on this thread and have read the posts with interest. Excellent pictures Rolf and your enthusiasm for the Groovetracer products is infectious. One question for all of you who have performed these upgrades (sub platter and platter), would you choose to do them again over spending the money on upgrading something like your cart? That's kinda the dilemma I'm in as I have a stock P3/24 (without PS) with an Ortofon Blue MM cart. Trying to decide what I should upgrade first.......

IME, I wouldn't be getting the performance that I am getting from better carts without these upgrades.
Earlier in this same thread, I believe that others have asked the same question of what to upgrade first, so I recommend going through the posts, as they are very informative.
I would say that the TTPSU and all of the Groovetracer products (subplatter, Delrin platter, and counterweight) are the upgrades I would say are indispensable, and should be at the top of your list for "reversible" non-intrusive mods.
If you are not afraid of modding your deck and have reasonable mechanical abilities, I would then say that the VTAF, the Michael Lim double pulley and motor isolation base, and a tonearm rewire are worthy of your consideration. The rewire and VTAF are truly non-reversible; the Lim upgrades require minor surgery, but are reversible.

Based on your recommendation, I took the time last night to read through all 39 pages of the thread. Whew! Lots of informative stuff in here for certain. When it comes to figuring out what upgrade to start with, I think it seems like the general concensus is to go with either the TTPSU or the GT subplatter first. Given the cost of the TTPSU new, I think I'll go with the subplatter. Shame I didn't know the previous versions of the TTPSU's were being blown out at Music Direct a while back for a nice cost savings over the new version.

I guess what I was trying to figure out earlier is what gives you the most bang for the buck and while a cart change can offer significant improvement it all depends on what cart you are starting with in the first place (Ortofon Blue MM) and where you are looking to potentially go. (Dynavector 10X5) Did I want to spend the money on the GT subplatter or did I want to apply those funds towards the purchase of a new cart instead? In the end, I think I've decided to hold off on the cart for now considering it is only 3 months old and I'm looking at the GT upgrades as the foundation of a house which you want to be strong to support the rest of the structure (cart).

Also appears that those of you using the Delrin platter from GT are NOT stopping the motor while swapping records correct? That would be my preferred method as well. Awefully tempting just to order both GT upgrades at the same time, but that puts me in the same cost bracket as the new TTPSU. Decisions decisions........

Regas are just great platforms for modding, as you can hear the effects of changes quite easily.

A better cart will often give you better results than tweaks or mods, assuming that the arm and cart play well together. However, as simple a tweak as decoupling your table from the shelf it rests on, or changing shelf material, can have more than subtle results.

Start simple and cheap and see where it gets you, and go from there.

Hey, I'm a film guy too, and I find that taking ages is all part of the fun! I haven't mastered the art of photographing hi-fi yet, I think RoDa has the eye there!

Looking back, I cannot point out a single tweak that I wouldn't do again.
(Since my tweaks so far are reversible, it makes sense. I would just remove them and go original again if they didn't feel like an upgrade)

Ordering the total Groovetracer system at once would be the smartest thing to do, and save freightcosts. But they do cost a few $ all at once....

I haven't heard the Ortofon Blue MM, but if the characteristics are similar to my Rondo Blue it should match you table nicely. Seems like a good idea to wear it out instead of replacing it now. With the tweaks in place you are shure to get an even better result later on if you switch cartridge.

I have thoughts about Ronddo Blue again, Rondo Bronze, AT33EV, DV20XL when it's my time to replace the cartridge.

But even sooner it's time to do my first non-reversible tweak....

The nice thing about photographing hi-fi is that the stuff doesn't move.
Slow shutter speed, the camera on a tripod and in "mirror-up-mode" gives clean sharp pictures.
