Garrard SL95

Post by Trippigs » 23 Nov 2019 20:34

Hello everyone. Earlier this week I purchased this turntable based entirely on photos which hinted at good cosmetic condition but of course functionality was unknown. But wow, am I pleased with the purchase. I restored the beautiful case and polished the plastic dust cover. Removed some dried grease and relubed with sewing machine oil....everything seems to work well. The RCA cables were missing and I thought this might require soldering but pleased to find female connections were factory...a nice touch. The Shure M55E seems ok but I will likely replace the stylus. This thing is like a time capsule and I plan to enjoy it awhile although I don’t really need another turntable.

Solid plinths like this do seem to help to maintain good condition of the player unit inside. This one looks amazing - well done! :D
