It's an Audio Technica of some description :-k

Maybe an AT31E?

Yup, that's an MC. And even one with user replaceable needle, namely the AT30E (low output) or AT30HE (high output). If you want to know for sure, just use a mirror and check the underside...

P.S.: JaS, I don't think it's an AT31E, 'cause that was the blue one (body and needle) - but one could upgrade the AT30E/HE (and also the red and pretty rare AT50MC) with the needle ATN31E.

w2b: Strange - from the pics the body doesn't really look blue to me. The needle seems to have a bit of a blueish hue, though. But who knows, maybe it's an AT30E/HE body already upgraded with an ATN31E. If you'll ever take it off the arm, you should find out, 'cause on its top the body should also have a little plate with the model designation.

Greetings from Munich!

top certainly looks like my AT30e.

I am looking for a at31n stylus for mine currently or indeed the Signet MKN110E if one can be found.

Hi Manfred,thanks for the help.
This turntable was obviously used in a very smoky environment for years and I am very carefully cleaning all the tobacco stains off it!! Everything is covered with it!!
I hadnt got around to fully cleaning the cart yet,but using a cotton bud and some cleaner,I can see that the whole cart is blue,as well as the stylus...as well as the arm, plinth, platter, and even the dustcover! I have to keep changing the cloth as it gets a yellow colour every time I wipe...anyone got a good suggestion for removing tobacco stains? so far Im using window cleaner and its not too bad,but maybe there is something better?

Simple Green (the purple one) works as well as anything I have tried, and better than most.

Cheers,
Alec

Manfred, the cartridge body doesn't look blue to you because it isn't. It's blau!
