Sansui Cartridge SC-37

Postby jimboyep » 02 Jul 2012 18:45

I was thinking about replacing the sytlus on this cartridge that I inherited as a backup. Since I have no experience with this model, I wanted to see if anyone might know something about it and if it's worth spending the money for a replacement stylus which is about $30.00.

There are specs here on the site but I am looking for someone who has used it and can speak on how well it performed... musically speaking.

Thanks

Looks like you can get it for $10.27 including shipping

$30 for a conical (spherical) on a budget cart seems steep to me. If you were planning on spending $30 or more I'd look at a superier cart like an AT95E or for a little more the AT110E

or the vintage Shure M91ED is a very good performer and is my personal preference

That's an interesting comment of upgrading to the M91ED which I had some time ago (freebie) and stuck it on a turntable that I sold off... Didn't care for the soundstage much... lacked depth. If you feel that this cartridge was that far down the ladder (which I suspected) then I'll just skip replacing it and upgrade to something far more desirable.

Thanks though for pointing out the better price on EBay... I should have checked there first.
