Nice. That Empire model number (LTD 750) sounds like a motorbike :).

It's interesting how low some carts ride. I was worried that my AT440MLa body sits so close to the record, but these pictures show that many other carts ride very low as well.

A bit of repost from other forums, but I think it really fits here:

Technics SL1210 MkII (not really seen) + AT95E in action. Shot by Canon EOS 5D MkII + Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro:

Stacked Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM + Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM. Math shows 4 times the magnification at 200mm compared to bare 100mm macro lens. Also tried "focus stacking" (blending photos with different focus points into one). Not very successfully, there's lots of artefacts, and the sharpness is often less due to blending...And the results:

:)

P.S.: Now I have the sudden urge to buy a more advanced stylus just for the sake of photographing it! And try how it sounds, of course...

Wow!! That has got to be the absolute best photography of a phono stylus I've seen anywhere.

Absolutely amazing!!!

I wonder what you could do with one of those Canon "micro" lenses.

Don't know which one you think. :)

I ordered a 77mm to 77 threaded coupling ring to align both lenses better, for the images above I just slightly taped them together. I'm also considering buying extension macro tubes, but I have no idea if they do anything for reverse stacked combo. And flash extension cord should come handy... Spending time again! :P

If you go some pages back (59/61) you'll see my pictures.
They're taken with a Nikon and 24mm reverse mounted. I thought that the result was fine... until I saw yours

Actually all of them but as far as up close and in your face clear detail, the last four.

I don't understand the revers stacked combo with lenses. How do you reverse mount a lens?

My System: Micro Seiki BL51 Turntable, Stax UA7 Tonearm, RCM Sensor Prelude Phono Stage, Ortofon MC15 Super II Cartridge, Rotel RCD865BX Cd Player, Melody I34R (Astro Black 40) amp and Osborn Epitome Speakers.

This is similar to my combination, 50mm lens reversed at the end of 70-200mm zoom lens.

Normaly you use something like this for reverse mounting the lens backwards: "Male 77mm-77mm 77-77 mm Macro Reverse Ring". I had to improvise since I don't have it yet.

Magnification factor is calculated by dividing focal lenght of a first mounted lens by focal lenght of a reversed lens - so it should be about 4X. Almost as strong magnification as Canon MP-E 65mm special macro lens, which has 5x magnification (and costs 900 EUR)...
