The EMPIRE 2002 EE comes off an old Sony belt drive from the 70s that needs serious servicing. I have it in the attic but want to use this on a new turntable coming in the mail this week.



I am also posting my new SHURE m97xe CARTRIDGE I BOUGHT.

Not installed yet obviously but still pretty to look at no? Came with a metal case, didn't expect that.

Roksan Xerxes, Alphason HR100, Syrinx PU3 (although momentarily I prefer one of my modified LENCOs instead of the Roksan), Concordant Excelsior preamp w. Explicite power supply, Metaxas Charisma (very flexible phono section), Metaxas Iraklis (love those Metaxas), J-Soundlab 300B, Reference 3A Integrale, Cabasse Dinghy ...

No, I am from Germany. I bought my METAXAs in France where they got rave reviews in La Nouvelle Revue Du Son (Jean Hiraga); they were also highly reviewed in Germany.
I bought the Metaxas Charisma preamp because I don´t know of any other preamp with the option to choose between more than 60 phono input impedances, and in combination with the Iraklis these amps are the only ones which can compete with my tube gear.

Excellent choice. I believe that only emt makes a phono stage with so many adjustments.

It's kind of weird that though metaxas is originally Greek there's not a single amp here in Greece....

I also have an Dynavector XX1-L (pictured on page 76), some TECHNICS EPC 205 (fantastic MM-cartridge), and DENON DL 103 van den Hul modified (Boron cantilever); they are all excellent, and especially the Technics is a bargain, because it is quite cheap by itself and you don´t need expensive tonearms, transformers or phono-stages. Also, I am a big fan of these modified LENCO idler wheel drive turntables (massive plinth etc); I actually prefer them to a Thorens TD 124 and a Garrard 401 that I once had (momentarily I use 3 LENCO L 75 tables)
