Hi Jas,
could you add the following info for these Thorens arms to the database:

TP14 eff mass 14.6g

TP25 eff length: 230mm, OH 14.4mm, Mount dist 215.6mm, eff mass 16g

Source: Joel Boutreaux and http://www.thorens-info.de/html/tonarme.html

Thanks,
Mark

Tonearm Database

Postby richard85p » 29 Apr 2010 06:52

If it isn't too much trouble, I would like to see a cross reference search as to other tonearms that would work on your turntable.

An example would be, I have a Morch UP4 and I would like to know other tonearms that would also mount up without any modifications.

The database can already be used to do this, although it isn't a 'single click' function.

For example, according to the table the UP4 has a pivot to spindle distance of 212mm with a 20mm mounting hole. By doing a search for all arms with 212 pivot to spindle distance and 20 for the mounting pattern you can see which should fit (although you would still have to double check with the manuals). In this case the search will only return Moerch arms as they don't use a standard fitment, but you could widen the search by leaving out the mounting pattern and putting in a range of distances, say 211-213mm to find close matches.

At present it has limited functionality, just searching by manufacturer / sorting by mounting distance etc, but once I finish updating the records (lots to do yet) this will be expanded on considerably. Also I've only had time to test it in Internet Explorer so any problems / suggestions / corrections / additions please post here

Hi Jas,

I've been trying to access the tonearm DB today at your above link (bcoz I want to find out the effective mass of my Graham 2.2 arm) but I just get a "404 Page Not Found" error? (This is from 2 different PCs connected to 2 different networks.)

Can you advise how to get to the tonearm database?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi,
The link works fine for me, but there's another link at the top of every page.

There's very little info for Grahams though and none for the 2.2 :(

Thanks, Jas - the link at the top of the page works fine! :D Very strange (but I'll just keep using that one.)

I'll try and get the info for the G2.2.

Hello JaS,

I notice no effective mass for Dual CS 515 and CS 514 in the tonearm database. It is published on pages 3-5 of the Dual 1984 turntable brochure. The CS 515 is 7 gr and the CS 514 is 9 gr.

Jas, I received an answer from Bob Graham - so perhaps you'd like to update the tonearm database for Graham arms.

The effective mass of the G2.0, 2.1 & 2.2 - and the Phantoms - is about 14gm. Geometric details for the G2.2, and earlier models, are the same.

Can you add the above into your database? I just bought one from them but I found that there is no manual with the packing. When I try to contact the manufacturer, their emails and website seemed to have been downed.

Read this site for years but wanted to be sure my first post was a contribution.

I just uploaded the Luxman / Micro Seiki TA-1 tonearm manual. Hope the moderators will review the doc and post it soon for everyone's use. It came with a Luxman PD-441 I just bought off of *bay. Manual is an overstatement, it's a double sided A4 sized piece of paper but I found it useful.

One question I hope someone can answer: I noticed a screw underneath the headshell of the TA-1 tonearm. Once loosened, does this mean the headshell can be safely rotated to adjust cartridge azimuth without breaking the headshell lead wires? Headshell still does not want to move even with screw loosened (tight interference fit). Nothing regarding azimuth adjustment is mentioned in the manual, but my headshell and cart definitely looks lopsided when in play, despite the turntable being level.

Audio Technica AT-LP120.
From AT web site support:
A user asked questions regarding the AT-LP120 tonearm
AT response was:
> Overhang is 16mm.
> The effective arm length is 230.5mm (spindle to pivot:214.5mm)
> Tonearm mass is unknown at this time.

Anyone knows the tonearm mass, or a way to properly measure it?

Thanks
