Tonearm Database

Postby JaS » 18 Dec 2005 01:31

New to the site (and just 3 years in the making!) is my online tonearm database. At present it has limited functionality, just searching by manufacturer / sorting by mounting distance etc, but once I finish updating the records (lots to do yet) this will be expanded on considerably. Also I've only had time to test it in Internet Explorer so any problems / suggestions / corrections / additions please post here

Jas... That is wicked !! I was impressed with the arm spec pdf, and use it all the time to refer to, but this database is quicker and easier, and searchable. Fantastic work mate !! The amount of information and resources on this site never ceases to amaze me, not to mention the friendly people that run it and frequent it. Cheers for your time and effort Jas. Much appreciated. :D

Cheers, I guess all the hours I put in to finally get this online where worthwhile then :) I think the next step will be search by mounting distance and a print table function, just as soon as I've entered the rest of the data...

Hi Jas,

Real labour of love!! Very informative!!
And easy to use too! Chapeau!!

Sorry for Bausace that the Signet series of AT
is not mentioned at all....wasn't he eBaying for
one?

For the Acos/Lustre/Koshin GST1 (from my manual)
the usable cartridge weights are indicated as from
5-30 g. Adjustable arm height 48-58mm. From template
the mount (overall) has to be be a hole of app. 78*48 mm.

For Goldring/Lenco I can add one arm not yet listed,
(entered pic into gallery..) Overall length (pivot-HS
end) is +-305 mm, circular mounting hole is +- 40 mm

From a (very)snowy Bavaria

Hi J7!
The CD Rom has been pensioned off for the moment (too few hours in the day) but the downloadable tonearm specs document will be updated once I've finished adding new data. Also I'm going to improve the online search function when I get a chance; at the moment you have to input the exact name in a field to get a return. My PHP/SQL coding skills are embryonic

Regards,
JaS

PS Thanks delcam1n0 for the new info

Two 'Nottingham Analogue Studio' additions for you Jas:

NAS Mentor Unipivot.
Mounting Hole 22mm Diameter.
Effective Mass 14.5g
Mounting Distance 210mm.

NAS AceSpace Unipivot.
Mounting Hole 22mm Diameter.
Effective Mass 13.5g
Mounting Distance 206mm. (4mm less than recommended, but it's better shorter!)

I think they both have 17mm overhangs.
They both have fixed headshells.
They can both be adjusted for VTA using the NAS collar normally fitted to the NAS deck, but the AceSpace has an extra vertical screw thing to assist.

The Effective Mass of the Mentor was quoted to me by Tom Fletcher, that of the AceSpace was found on an Eastern distributor's website.

Both arms have upwards pivots and one run of cartridge to phono wiring and underslung counterweights, NAS can supply at least two different brass lumps for the counterweight to suit different cartridges, so the cartridge weight range is very wide.

hi JaS,

i have a bit of info on the luxman tonearm. the model is TA-1 and is medium-heavy, guess is 12-14g......what i read is 10 to 14g. i have one, and it is more on the heavy side, could well be 14-16g.
when i find my protractor, i will measure the offset.

regards,

Tonearm Database Update

Postby JaS » 20 Feb 2006 09:30

I've just finished a huge update to the tonearm database, it now contains data on over 550 tonearms and turntables. I've also optimised the search function for speed and ease of use. Any corrections/additions/suggestions please post here
