philips 977 anti skate problem

I can not adjust the anti skate on my Philips 977.When i balance the arm it returns to the rest in any setting.
I am new to vinyl engine so please let me know if i have posted in the wrong catagory

Firstly check your TT is completely level, balance the arm and apply correct VTF (downward force) for cartridge then apply antiskate (usually the same as VTF but may need a bit of tweaking).

It turned out the anti skate spring was bound up.Problem solved!Now the led speed display has stopped working.I think I will leave that up to a repair shop to figure out

Philips 977 speed display not working
I have brought my turntable to a local repair shop and after five months they have now informed me they can not figure out the problem.Everything works great on the table but the led speed display.Wondering if anybody has any ideas on what to check for.
