Help with best purchase

Postby Davie81 » 19 Aug 2012 16:53

I'm currently playing a cheap ion profile table through my old sony cp33 md micro hifi and I'm going to buy either a new table or setup.

I'm in a bit of a muddle what to do tho as I'm currently trying to cut back on spending and get something new on a budget. I'm looking at the pro-ject essential table but my problem is I don't know whether to just get a preamp to go with it or should I start buying the single units and get an amp to use with my current speakers?

I've noticed that the volume on the aux in on the hifi is quieter than a cd so would the single units be any improvement on the sound baring in mind I'd be using the same speakers or would it be a waste of money just now?

I'd ideally not want to go down the second hand charity shop purchases due to no warranties etc.

Any help or advice is suggested.

The Project Essential plus a reasonable phono preamp should be a good start. Normally I recommend older equipment s the best value. Bought from a audio shop that has taken it on trade, there should be a basic warrantee.
