Victor UA 5045 or Audio Technica ATP12T

Postby Boukman » 07 Aug 2012 16:07

I am building a plinth for another Garrard 301 (this time grease bearing), and am choosing an arm. Deliberating between Victor UA 5045 (10") and an Audio Technica ATP12T (also 10"). Both are medium mass arms. The Victor is all singing and dancing, and beautiful (even with a on the fly VTA adjustment). The ATP12T is very simple and robust (no anti-skate, no arm-lift etc).

Which one would you choose - they would run a Denon DL103R, and sometimes perhaps an SPU.

Many thanks for your thoughts. Best

I like the ATP 12-T a lot for the DL-103. And happily run one on my ATP 16-T. Also an excellent SPU platform. Does have VTA adjustment. Setscrews or outside screws to adjust.
