WHY my YAMAHA PF800 sounds so dull? Please help me.

Stuck in a medical rehab right now so I can't look but I thought I had an MC 705 cart on my PX 2 turntable and the output was ~2.4 mV.
Perhaps my memory is bad but the hi output moving coil that was commonly paired with the PX 2/3 turntables (MC705?) had about that output and it is very close to the output of Bang Olsen MMC2 which is I believe 2.2 mV
And yes, both are relatively low output into a MM input but are fine with a little twist of the volume control. (They are absurdly too high output for MC inputs)

Here is some update.

I bought a small bottle of stylus cleaner fluid，by the smell I don't thinks its alcohol, maybe something else? Anyway, using a small art brush give the "old stylus" a good clean. I was careful not to touch the joint area.

That is the result. Compare to the previous photos, now the tips can been seen. Well I just have no idea here, it doesn't look like a diamond? Can you guys tell how good is this one? Do I need to clean the support tube as well? (what is that thing called?)

how are you shooting them......

I use a Sony A900 camera with 100mm macro lens and a flash unit. Manual focus at 1:1 and do a massive crop on computer. Those were the largest views I can get. Still not too large......

Have talked to 2 of the local hifi shops. They believe the problem is the stylus--phono stage match up, and the so called high output MC705 is more likely to be the only normal output one.

Will try a Project Phono Box SE II from them next week. None of them have stock today.

Had some close up photos for the inside.

Like previous post mentioned. Can find there is some glue like thing on the joint of the "pole", on both old and new stylus. Is it just normal or means they have been badly fixed?

I think there is little chance that those two were both together "badly fixed" by adding glue.

What about you guys?

And I have noticed that the cartridge can "sing" by itself. A very tiny sound is directly emitted from the cartridge itself if hear really close, can easily tell which song is.

Fred: No worries, it's pretty normal that there's a bit of visible glue from fixing the cantilever to the magnet holder (for the AT V-magnet MMs) and even more to fix the coils on the coil holder (for that type of AT MCs). And as you can see on the pics, in both cases the damper ring isn't messed up with glue, so I don't see any real signs that would hint to failed diy repair.

huchiz: Actually, I've already told you several times that the MC705 is a low output model over in this thread: http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=48390 Was there anything misunderstandable about it? So, again, and as also already mentioned in that thread, you'd need to install an ATN3200 family needle instead, in order to convert the MC705 to high output.

yes, I guess there was. I thought these MC705 were already fitted with ATN3200. Apparently they are not. lol.

A quick update, just got a Project PhonoBox SE II today and set to MC 100OHM.

Now the YAMAHA starts to sing so beautifully.

I guess I am.
There was so many views, more than 1100, that's more than some Linn LP12s listed. I didn't expect to get it around 400 dollars, maybe the seller chosen a bad closing time.
