I would of thought that you being a radio "DJ" would be able to get "inside" info from the pros at the radio station like the stations broadcast engineer who handles/services the equipment who could knowingly recommend equipment. Even if you didn't bother to ask advice from the people you worked with you had two turntables sitting in front of you that had more than proved themselves. I'v managed to figure out how to purchase equipment 3,000 miles away without a hitch, 110 miles in Maine isn't exactly like driving thru mid town Manhattan. I'll bet that AT turntable will crap out before the Moscow Maine Technics ever blinks and your warranty won't be worth the paper it's written on. And for the record I'm not a nice person, nice guys finish last and buy AT turntables.

IMO the post that stared this could have been worded better. Megatreands bought his TT with both eyes open with lots of advice and does not deserve attack. The TT he bought would not have been my choice, I think a Technics is a better option but there is no reason to be rude as we all make are own choices right or wrong and I have made my share of wrong ones. What is inportant is Megatrends plays lots of vinyl and enjoys it :D
Just my input.

megatrends,

What matters here is that you are spinning and enjoying vinyl. A warm welcome to you.

Absolutely... What difference does it make what other people think... For every model, there is always something out there with better specs and a higher price tag to boot. It's all about the music folks.

One thing what makes the difference for me is the good Shure M97xe cartridge.

I bought a replacement stylus for it already for when this one is worn.

I have a vintage Empire 2002 EE catrtridge from the 70s as a back up and threw it on and the sound quality difference is noticable between a quality cart and the Empire.

It has a lower output signal as well with volume.

Got to have a good cartridge on a good turntable. One of the radio station turntable uses a Stanton cart, an expensive one. I like that one too but got the Shure one at 50% off on Amazon for $70 because it was available at that price.
