Heybrook TT1 Turntable

Postby BeEvil » 17 May 2012 12:53

Hi all,

I was recently introdused to a Heybrook TT1 turntable. I've heard of and seen a Heybrook TT2 but I can't seem to find anything on the TT1. The guy tells me it was the top of the line above the TT2. Anyone know anythng about this turntable? I can't find anything about it. Was it the precursor to the TT2?

I'm fairly sure that according to the guy who designed the TT2 there's no such thing as a TT1. He's a member on another forum and I exchanged a few PM's with him and he answered a few peoples questions about the TT2. One other member of that forum also asked what happened to the TT1.
There was also at least one other person who worked for Heybrook on the forum and I'm positive he also said there was no such thing as a TT1.

Thanks for the reply bubba45.

I'm pretty sure this was a TT1. I'll double check. He has the original box and paperwork.

Also, this is a quote right from this site in the Heybrook Library section.

"UK company that produced the TT1 and TT2 turntables and the budget RA20 tonearm"

As you can see it clearly states that they made a TT1 and a TT2. Maybe the TT1 is very rare?

Hi again

Here is a quote from the other forum I mentioned by the guy who worked for Heybrook and designed the Heybrook TT2:

Just looked at the heading for this thread with some puzzlement. Heybrook TT1? As far as I know, there never was such a thing. The first (and as for as I know the only) turntable Heybrook produced was the TT2, so called because a) the first Heybrook speaker was the HB2, so it got to be a habit, and b) TT2 sounded better than TT1. If you really do have a Heybrook TT1, I'd really like to see some pics and a description.

It's from a thread by a chap asking for a new pulley for a TT1. No photos of a Heybrook TT1 were ever posted. Could you maybe get a picture of it?

Absolutely. I tried today to get the manual and take some photos. But he is away till tomorrow. So I'll try again. Fingers crossed. If it is a TT1 it'll be an anomaly. He insisted it was. Interest officially piqued.

Well the guy was wrong. It's a TT2 with a Grace F9 Ruby and a Linn Basik LVX tonearm. Still a great find. Thanks for all your help.
