I acquired an SL-1200MK2 a few days ago and now fitted with my DL-103 It's pitch stable and uncoloured sound is certainly different from my Systemdek IIX900 / RB300. Maybe not to everyone's taste but I want to hear records and not the record player........

The Townshend Rock series,
The latest I have is Mk3 which can be annoying at service time and needs watching.Thats why I gave up hifi.It will be up for sale one day.
Since my early days, Garrards (6)Linn sondek and its upgrades (I believe I had the 4th one ever made)plus about 12 others different makes Walker STD Rega Thorens systemdek and I felt none of the bouncing decks were clean enough for my liking.
Also had the opportunity to get familair with a lot of high end decks and arms of various abilities. They were all listenable except japanese direct drives.ugh

Hi,
you need to ask? Think my ve moniker gives it away! :) A Garrard 401 of course.
A life long vinyl user, but had also amassed a large number of cd's by the mid/late 90's which is when I acquired my 401, totally revamped my interest in vinyl. Sounded great - still does! And it only cost me a tenner complete with an SME S2 arm.

Well, tell us more f81........ you've set the hook..... #-o  :D [-o< [-o<
Have a Prestige Blue that has little time on the tip looking for a reason to MCZize. Potting..... :-k Longhorned...

I still have mixed feelings towards Grados, you see. The MCZ works very well because the SME III is an incredible tonearm and -by the way- i am using fluid damping, which i consider a MUST for those cartridges.

When you want to get rid of that Townshend Rock 3, please let me know. I miss the one I sold last year. Wonderful, compact table.

My current deck, a Nottingham Ace Spacedeck, is easily the best tt I've ever owned. I think it's my twelfth or thirteenth and the others have included deck from Rega, Pro-Ject, Thorens, Strathclyde, Roksan, Nottingham and a few more I can't remember right now.

The first piece of audio equipment I bought with my own money was a Dual 1237 in 1978. It is currently spinning "Supper's Ready". Sounds great. It's not the best turntable I ever hope to own, but it's been a trusty workhorse.

My current good old Dual 1019 with Shure M97xE cart and a Jico SAS stylus I just bought (installed today). (The difference is astounding!)
I changed in 1969 from a PE 66 , a PE REX A and a RCA 7" changer I bought with my pocket money in 1958!
Got a Marantz 6170 and a Thorens TD 166 and 146, all very nice but my preference still goes to my old Dual!
Dual 1019/Shure M97xE/Jico SAS stylus.
Thorens TD 146 & TD 166/Ortofon OMB5 and OM40 carts.
Marantz Mod 6170/Marantz E 5000 cart.

My current spinner is doing a pretty respectable job. I bought a Denon DP-62L back in the 1980s and have done numerous upgrades to the turntable.

I have damped the plinth and dustcover. Replaced the stock tonearm with an OEM RB-300 w/Incognito wiring, Mitchell Technoweight and Riggle VTAF. Recapped the electronics and soldered all the wire wrap terminals. I have the DP-62L sitting on a Gingko Cloud 11 platform and replaced the mat with a Herbies Way Excellent II mat.

A SoundSmith retipped Denon DL-103D is mounted on the RB-300.

It sounds pretty good,

I like my current table--Basis Debut IV with vacuum clamp, a Basis power supply and Basis Vector 3 tonearm.

Direct Drive - Sony PS2250 / Jelco 370H / Plywood plinth / PVC foam platter mat / AT OC9/MLII

Belt Drive - Thorens TD125 MKII / LAD(Jelco 370D) / PVC Foam platter mat / Acrylic & PVC Foam sandwich armboard / Nagaoka MP20

Idler Drive - So far I have only owned a working GL75 but I have a Thorens TD135 in need of some major restoration so I'll have to see what that's like when it's done.

The one I have now. JVC QL-50/Grace707mk2/NOS V15VMR.

I stupidly sold my Technics SL1700mk2 a couple of years ago. I had it since the late 70's and was in perfect condition but it never tracked as well as the Grace arm I have now does.
