Hi, argentinoroberto.

The tonearm on my lenco is not plastic, its painted metal. I found the manual you were talking about ( there even was a swedish version :D ) I'll try to open it up and take some inside pictures for you.

Questions still remains though.

Thing is, i never heard about Lenco before, My father found it at work, some guy was about 5 seconds from throwing it in a dumpster.

1: How old do you think it is?
2: Is it any good or is it crap?
3: Do you think the tonearm is the original one?

I found a store in my town and they were selling Lenco, they got pretty exited when i showed them my L55s

I've ordered a new needle and a pre-amp and some cabels, hopefully i can test it soon. :D
Hi Judde

1 I don´t know, but perhaps blueintheface has the answer.
2 I think it´s a good TT, and it is your first one, better too.
3 Me be or me be not. Perhaps the "S" tell your something about the "S" tonearm. A restyled versión of the 55, with S arm? An overstock of platter at the factory and the marketing deparment order Keep out to street! with a new toneram S japanese style? 70's the begining super mass pruduction of electronics...

Click this URL to see your arm, it ´s a Lenco L133. The owner tell me he bought it new in 1978/79.

I see your pictures and I have the L133 in my hands. I think it´s the same tonearm.
I see years ago the same tonearm in one L800... but cream color.

Two things
The platter: Variable speed, perfect for old 78 records. Not all plays at 78 rpm speed,
The arm: "S" arm with bayonet mount headshell. The universal headshell. You can buy at any time a new technics, stanton, oem headshell to use diferent cartridges change it en seconds.
You can improve the performance with, filter, cables, suspension, mats, phonocartridges. Like a car.
I recomend to read all about of setup a TT in the library of this site (easy with pictures). You need learn and digest the concepts of VTA, Azimuht, Overhang, effective Lengh, effective mass, etc, etc....
It´s take a lot of time a pacient. By slow, step by step.. A USD 10.000 system cought sound ugly is not properly setup.
Then when you can find to express all the sound of the TT, you can move with another better if you interest in this hobby.
You can see a big bandwith at: http://www.needledoctor.com, for common people and Billy Gates, Rockefeller, Queen something...
