Resurrect an old thread! Decca arm and cart fitted and running. Happy with it for now, tracks well, and I have a magnetic end-of-side lift, so I don't wear out the stylus when I fall asleep. Regularly.

hi,
resurrecting this thread over and over again!
i finally got myself one of these fine piece of gear but the three paddles are missing... :? as i'm really terrible at handy work (manually challenged is the pc version of it) i wondered if one of you smart gentlemen could maybe provide one (the big one), artistically crafted from years, months, hours of steadily practice with paper clips and pliers... i'll be happy to trade such valuable item with a good piece of black vinyl from my jazz collection 8)

Ok here we go

Thick wire gauge 0.092in
Thin wire gauge 0.048in

All measurements are taken between the inside of the bends

Thick from right 12.5mm
Thick down 10mm
Thick horizontal stub facing toward you 3mm

Thin from right 13.5mm
Thin down 9mm
Thin horizontal stub facing toward you 1mm

Other to follow later ( I have to take it off my arm)

I think it was you who posted some pictures of suitably modified bulldog clip metalwork?!

Yes t'was I

PS
I don't think you need a thumbscrew, there were some solid counterweights made.

Middle wire gauge 0.048in
Middle from right 13.5mm
Middle down 12mm
Middle horizontal stub facing toward you 3.5mm

774 guys, i' m so unfamiliar with arms and cartridges i'm totally at a loss here and sure would need your help... of course i dwld and read the manual but even in french,
it looks damn tricky.
so arm base is bolted sme-style to my td124 mkII armboard. it currently sits very low, touching its base. i don't find any td124/774 pics online so i wonder if it's alright or if the arm-support should be elevated. wonder how anyway...
as there's no armlift, is the pivot supposed to rotate and guide the arm to the lp or stay fixed?
here's some pics of current stage of installation and hope for advice. please let me know if you think i'm polluting this "rewire" thread, if so i'll open a "774 for dummies"

The pivot/spindle should be fixed, near the red plug at the back there is a grub screw that locks/unlocks the spindle height, this sets the spindle height so the arm tube is approx horizontal when the stylus is on the record.

On yours it will be somewhere in the raised collar.

got it! thanks for the tip. of course i need to get the proper allen key now...
i only have a set of precision screwdrivers. one head has the exact same length as the space between the base and the td chassis, hence impossible to turn

ok, i finally put the ol' tp14 back on the thorens but didn't give up on my mission...
i actualy set it up to partner a sp10 on a simple "monster" wood block i cut out, sprayed some black for coolness then mounted it.
after a few basic measures, i was already impressed by the sound. the mission and the AKG P8E are indeed a great match.
still have to figure exact protracting and put the paddles at work but it already plays pretty smoothly.
please help me with the simplest protracting pattern - for dummies will do...
a few pics of the set-up

Nice job, abril! Finding room on the pillar for the set screw isn't easy.

Was using a nylon screw a concious decision, or was it what you had on hand?
How boring it would be, this endeavor
If all we heard was "perfect sound forever"
