Hello. I was hoping to find the answers to a couple of questions I have about the Rek-O-Kut S-120 tonearm:
1) I'm mounting the arm on a Lenco L75 to replace a Linn Basik LVX that I find to be a little too forward sounding for my tastes. Is there any reason to suspect that a perfectly functional S-120 arm in immaculate condition will not track well enough with a good MM cartridge to pass all three HI-FI News test bands? I've been able to obtain perfectly clean tracking in the Linn arm with an Ortofon OM20, btw.
2) There are two braided pairs of wires coming out of the bottom of the S-120 that need to be terminated. One is yellow and one is black. Any idea which is hot and which is ground?
3) According to the database, the correct mounting hole for the S-120 is 209.5 pivot to spindle. However, mounting the arm in this fashion does not allow for correct alignment using a Baerwald protractor. A very helpful member on Vinyl Asylum told me that according to the stated effective length of the Rek-O-Kut arm, if effective length is 223-mm and you want to use Löfgren A (Baerwald) null-points of 66-mm and 121-mm, the correct mounting distance would be 204.3-mm with an 18.7-mm overhang, not 209.5mm. I'm about to cut metal to accommodate the 204.3 distance mounting position. Is there any way around this?
