TD-158 with TP-17 tonearm

Postby hakonm » 29 Jul 2012 14:54

Is it posible to adjust the weight on the TD-158(with the TP-17 tonearm)?
If not, do I have to choose a pick-up thats 5G? The instruction manual states that it is compatible with cartridges 3-10 grams, is this correct??
Any sugestions on a good pick-up cartridge for the TD-158?

The instruction about the cartridge is copied and pasted from other instruction manuals in the Thorens lineup, it is the same for the TD170 so instructions is not corrected for the 158 - but there is a difference here, with the TD170 you can change to a different cartridge the 170 supports adjustment of tracking force. Not so the 158, it is lowest budget entry auto deck and only designed to work with the supplied cartridge. Same thing with Marantz TT42, Denon DP29F and a few others. You can replace the stylus but this TT doesn't work good with a cartridge with different specifications than the one included.
