headshell and cart

Hi every body! need your help ,please!
I have a Thorens TD150 MKII with the original tonearm TP13a (and the original TP-50 headshell as well) , that I like, for many reasons , and want to keep as is !I would like to use a M97xe instead of my old MM-7 cart . I'm new in vintage turnable so...be fair!!! , my problem is ,at the moment : can I drill the headshell in order to put this cartrige that does not fit in the original screw connection?( the screws I have are too long and those coming with the cartrige, not the same diameter)
There are 2 marked holes in front of the regular fixation of the headshell, like imprints of holes, meadow cut, under the small patch fixed on the top end of the TD-50 headshell, where Thorens is written. Is it possible to drill this piece out in order to put the new cart, with its own screws... ?is it possible to do that?...Or a shame! #-o ...Is it going to modify the sound?... Or I just have to find little screws,(found them already on E-bay)with the right shape, in order to fix the cartrige in the original headshell's screw connection?
thank's a lot!

Best regards
Pascal
