TD-124: Time for a new belt

Postby JimAustin » 12 Aug 2012 02:04

Turned on the old 'table today and Spoon was playing at about 2/3 their usual speed. Decided it was time to replace the belt. ;-)

Seriously, 'tables been doing fine, but a little noisy. And now it's unlistenable.

Took the belt off and measured it: Approximately 14.1". No wonder it isn't working.

Looked through the various boxes in my closet and couldn't find another. (Thought I had the old one, but no.)

So: Which to buy? I've reviewed the archives. I know the Thakker belts are too thick and probably too stiff (and not stretchy enough).

So, what's the current thinking? Has anyone found a belt that 1. works really well and is quiet, and/or 2. reasonably approaches the original specs?

I know about Joel, and last I heard he had only the 50 Hz belt.

Thanks all.
