Transporting Technics in a car

Postby ifyoulikethetone » 01 May 2012 14:05

Just a quick question to make sure I'm not about to damage my beloved Technics SL-1200 Mk2... Am taking it to be serviced at Audio Gold in London tomorrow. Method of transport = pre-booked minicab. I was hoping all I'd have to do was tape the tonearm down to make it extra secure and lift the platter off while it's being moved. Is there anything else people would recommend? Naturally, I'll be wrapping the leads up so they don't knock into anything and putting the whole lot in some heavy-duty plastic bags with some padding thrown in for lifting in and out of the car.

(Is it a problem to carry the table on its side at all or should it always be flat?)
