new cart/which protractor

Postby salmonfever » 30 Apr 2012 02:58

I have a technics SL-D2 that I recently revived. I was thinking of putting on a SHURE M97XE cart but don't know how to align or which protractor to use. Can anyone help?

Measure the spindle to pivot distance, and use the appropriate Technics protractor.
Alternatively, the Stupid or the KWillis will work.

Cheers,
Alec

New to this and am not sure what you mean pivot distance. Is that where the center of tone arm is?

The pivot is the point on which the arm rotates.

Thanks for your help. I just got done looking it up. I am new to this. My record player growing up was just speed and then start. This may be lower cost unit but more technical than use to own. Sound great though !!!

Just measured and got 215mm. Downloaded protractor listed and now just need to wait on cart to arrive. Can you tell me what the little magnet is in my ADC MK111 head? It is loose and that's why ordering new.
