I've got an incoming 1210GR and will be installing an Audio Technica VM540ML on it. I'd bought it for a different turntable but ended up selling it when I decided to get the Technics.

These new A-T concepts appear to be rocking the cartridge manufacturing segment. My first thought is these cartridges might dethrone the Ortofon 2M Series. The reviews, both credentialed and other, indicate these carts are great performers, as well as great values. At any rate, competition seems to be benefiting us. My guess is the market for carts has increased enough that A-T is comfortable with their marketing risk.

Just got a NOS 1210 mk2 and put an AT150MLx on it. Sounds very very nice stock. Not hearing too much difference from my SL-120 mk1 with RB300 Arm which I have sitting now ready to transplant. Slightly higher noisefloor with the stock arm but nothing to complain about. Not in a hurry to go ripping the mk2 apart.

I got a SL 1200 mk2 for my birthday. Put a Nagaoka MP-110 on it. Been listening to it about 4 weeks and very pleased with it so far.

Rat now, and for a couple month's or so. A Grado Red. Very nice sounding and reasonably priced cartridge. My only gripe on Grado is there is no stylus upgrade for their Prestige cartridges. From Black to Gold it's the same bonded elliptical stylus on a 3 or 4 piece cantilever. I'd think they would get a lot of enthusiastic customers for a nude microline or shibata stylus on their Prestige's. Audio Technica has cleverly made this available with their VM line of cartridges.

Been rocking an AT440MLa and it's been playing very nicely with the stock 1200Mk2 arm.

Good old Stanton and Pickering cartridges. My best cartridge's are Stanton. Do a forum or web search on them. The 881, 981's are top of their line. Pickering the xsv line. But many of their respective other lines get great praise.

I have a Shure v15-vmr mounted to my 1200 mk2. Outstanding combination.

I currently have a Paradox Pulse Guard bodied Denon DL103r with sapphire cantilever and line contact stylus. It sounds absolutely gorgeous and by far the best cartridge I've ever had. However, in future I may consider an AT Art9 or a Hana cartridge to try something of a different flavor.
