Just ordered my Ortofon 2M Red.
If you have difficulty mounting it to the stock headshell and/or getting the cart to level from a tail low condition, which might happen. Buy the Ortofon SH-4 Headshell.

Just a 1200 paired with a Pioneer sx1010 receiver
Technics SL2000 is NOT a 1200.
Sorry, it is an SL1200 as stated in my first post. Just got lazy on my reply. :( :(
Then why does the logo say SL 2000?

That turntable in your posted photo is not an SL 1200.

OP, here's the thing. You either have an SL2000 or an SL1200. The pic you shared is of an SL2000. Why does it matter? The SL2000 does not have a VTA adjustment feature and thus its stock headshell design will cause the Ortofon 18mm tall cartridge to ride tail low without means to level the cartridge to get the best performance from it. Therefore, you will need to buy the Ortofon SH-4 headshell, a taller design, which should level the 18mm high cart on the SL2000 tonearm when placed on a record.

The turntable in your photo is definitely an SL 2000. Did you put up the wrong photo?

Man, am I getting old. It is an SL2000 not the 1200 like I thought. I even wear glasses. Oh well, WTF! I just received the Ortofon 2M Red so I guess I’ll just resell it and get the SH4. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

I hope you didn't pay a 1200 level price for the turntable.

I paid a $100 for the whole stereo system at an estate sale. The receiver was a piece of crap but the .technics SL2000 and the Sansui SP35 speakers made it worth while. Speakers are in excellent condition, sound great too.

On another note, anyone know anything about these and do you think their worth $150?

Well you got a great deal then!!

The SL 2000 is a very good turntable and those speakers do look very nice.
