Technics SL 23 turntable - motor

Postby Grountch » 04 Jan 2011 19:45

Hello everyone,

I just get a Technics SL 23 turntable from my father, and would like to repair the motor which has been replaced few years ago by an old and asthmatic one by my brother (family business !).
Any information like a nice picture of the original motor, or part number for a replacement one would be really appreciated,

Thanks for reading, Wish you a good evening :)

That is a surprisingly nice deck.
Have you tried some fresh, light oil in the motor and spindle bearings?

Cheers.

Yes it's a nice and heavy deck !

Actually I already tried to put some light oil in the motor axle, with no success : the motor is still emitting vibrating noise.
Currently I'm trying to find a similar turntable, as a SL B2, which should have a similar motor. I will try also to contact Panasonic.

A motor part number from a SL 23 really would help, any clue ?

I gave away my SL-23, at Christmas, so I can't look.
Can you get to the bottom of the motor with some oil?

Cheers,
Alec

Unfortunatly I can't, as the motor is closed at the bottom.
There is maybe a possibility for me to get a SL-23A motor (a new one). the part number of this motor is MHX-5P2RVA.

Does anybody know the difference between SL-23 and SL-23A deck ? (from the outside seems to be exactly the same)

Also missed your answer in august.
Still looking for a brand new SL23 motor, including its black bracket, screws, and its electronic PCB.
If yours is still available I'd really enjoy receiving some nice pictures of it, at :

grountch*at*yahoo.fr (replace the "*at*" by "@")

Where does this motor come from ? How old is it ? Is it properly working ?

Cheers,
Guillaume
