So its still only a rumor, in the top link you can read the following:

Clarification came from Panasonic UK to squash rumours. And It's not what you might think. So here goes - the 1200MK5 and 1210MK5 WILL be discontinued leaving the 1210MK5G as the top of the range and most definitely NOT discontinued. It never was a limited edition, just a flagship special edition model. And the 1200 and 1210 MK2 will continue as normal. So now there's some distance between the MK2 and MK5G models instead having a middle MK5 deck to confuse matters. So it's vanilla Technics or the more expensive piano black extra pitched blue light luxury model left in the range.

So heads up all you DJ's (and some true believers)! as long nothing has come from Panasonic officially, nothing is discontinued...

The prices will skyrocket if this is true. In 5 years I'll be able to sell my 1210 for the price of a SP10MK II.

This is being discussed in the Technics forum. Please check this thread.

EDIT : This post was originally made on another thread on the same subject that started in the "Turntables and Tonearms" section. It seems that the two threads are now merged.

Just so you know, this particular comment originated from here almost three years ago:

http://www.skratchworx.com/news3/comments.php?id=603

The source of the latest rumour, apparently an email from some guy in a shop, whos comments were then posted on a forum called "GlobalHardstyle". <strokes chin>

Death of the sl-1200 series ?

Postby doc brown » 19 Feb 2010 17:04

Hi !

I wanted to own a sl-1210 MKII but it seems that it is out of stock everywhere...

I saw articles on internet saying that Panasonic wanted to stop the SL-1200 series production.

Is it true ?

Thanks.

Doc,

This has been noted here at VE since at least 4(?)
months, For more info see:

http://www.vinylengine.com/phpBB2/viewt ... scontinued

The French Panasonic website still lists it: Better check
with their office...

This is usually a rumour that seems to start every few years. I think in this case they are stopping production of some of the slower sellers.

Doc,

The 12xx series is massive. You will easily find a 12xx series TT, eBay is a very good site, you can usually pick up a decent 1210 mk2 for just over £100. There are many people here that have developed and improved the 12xx series to great extremes. It has a huge following. It's a great TT, very well designed, built like a bull and more importantly sounds excellent. It can be made to sound sublime with a little tweaking. Do yourself a favour and purchase one. If you get stuck you can always come here and ask for help!

Hi !
Thanks for answers.

I don't know what to think about... It's strange that most shops on Internet shows the MKII out of stock...
