SL-J110R Start/Stop Cycle

Post by humanoid85 » 23 Jun 2019 17:14

Hi, I've just got hold of a SL-J110R turntable and when I press the start button the tonearm moves sets down on the record and then immediately lifts and returns to the rest, and then repeats the same cycle until the power is switched off. If I cue the tonearm manually then there is no problem.

I found an old thread from 2009 of someone who had the same problem but the thread provided no solution.

If anyone can help with directions on how to fix I'd appreciate it. Thanks

It seems I've resolved the problem. I removed the platter, then turned the spindle clockwise until the spindle cog sat freely in the groove of the large cog ( ie not in the large cog's teeth) so that when the spindle turned it would not move the large cog. I replaced the platter and pressed start and it operates normally. I hope this helps for future reference

Well done! It's always good when someone comes back and explains how they fixed their issue for future reference.
