Not yet, but hopefully it will be good. I can't imagine they'd put a bad preamp in it, especially since it's part of their Premium Class line of products.

Looking at other turntables in the $1200 to $2000 price range (not including other Technics turntables), the 1500C has better specs than all of them for wow & flutter, rumble, and speed deviation. The nearest competitor that has almost identical specs seems to be the MoFi UltraDeck+ which is $2500.

Great display at the CES
Made in Malaysia on the back. Something was covered up with a marker.
The Technics rep said the list price is $1399.00

I really like the looks of it. I like the simplified, de-cluttered appearance. If you replaced the push buttons with knobs it would look even more like an original SL-1500. :D

I also think the black one looks great, and although I agree with the person who said it resembles the AT-LP5, I think that's simply because AT has been mimicking the look of Technics turntables for so long.

Original SL-1500 for comparison sake:

Sold that table last week and already regretting it. So quiet and easy to maintain.

Made in Malaysia means it will be cheaper. Things made in Japan are really expensive these days. So price could go to somewhere 1200-1300 EUR.

Yes, definitely. Love the clean look. Have you worked on one? I wonder if it's as easy to service and maintain as the SL-1500. Regardless, I'd love to have one!

The 1501 looks so modern even today. I can see why they kept the 1200-style buttons on the new 1500c, but they really should have gone with a platter like the 1501 and 1500mk2, as well as a strobe and pitch adjustment (there are other uses for that besides speed accuracy). But oh well, I guess we should be happy they're making this turntable at all. The painted platter does look pretty good on the silver version of the new 1500c, but I really don't like the black version. Thanks for these images, Phono-lover!

Ive never worked on one, but it should be easy to work on as its a manual turntable. (The original 1501 I mean.)
Im sure it shares much of the same parts except for the motor. Im assuming the red strobe means its not quartz, but uses newer chips to regulate the speed.

Re. the minimalist design of the new 1500... I just stumbled upon this picture of the Braun PS 1000 turntable, from 1968 (!). Funny how little has changed in 50+ years. This model already features an illuminated strobe, antiskating, photo-electronic auto-stop and feather-touch controls. Okay, it's an idler drive 8)
