I'm new to turntable maintenance.
Problem:
When I press the start button, the platter spins up, the tonearm lifts and moves over to the platter but stops just before it crosses the plane of the platter. The platter stops spinning and nothing else happens. I assume there is a switch that the tonearm is supposed to flip as it crosses the plane to keep the platter spinning (like a manual start). If I hit the start/stop button again the tone-arm returns to the off position.
I've tried adjusting the auto-start adjustment screw with no luck. It only seems to turn about 180° and with the adjustment set as far as it will go, it's not far enough.
Am I missing something here?
I read something that said the 'auto-detect size' of a record feature might be causing this? It has little buttons that get pressed down when there is a 7" or 12". Any way that's possible.
I wanted to take the platter off to look at what is really happening but I don't know how to do this. The manual shows a visual of turning something 90°, how do I remove the platter?
Thanks for any help.
