I picked up a NAD 541i a few months back for £15, it was registered as not working. Took a while to sort it out, as it was a bit of a mess. Essentially the tray had jumped out of its runners and the mechanism was disengaged. Finally got that sorted then found out the internal fuse had blown. Pretty pleased with it now. I've got a NAD 525bee, and it's a bit flat compared to the 541i.

I have a Marantz SA-KI Pearl Lite. A wonderfully sounding player.

I managed to find a complete Marantz system in an alley a couple months back. The CD player is a 5 disc carousel model CC-52u. It's been tough finding information about it and I have no idea about the quality of it's sound because it needs new belts (at least) and I can't find a reliable supplier. If anyone has had any luck repairing something like this I would LOVE to hear about it.

I have too many CDs these days to faff about inserting them one at a time so my beloved Sony CDP710 has been ousted by a Sony DP CX350 essentially a 300 disc carousel.

Other than the disc readers in my laptops, the only stand alone disc player I own is the Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai. The last time I tried it,maybe 6 months ago, it worked with SACDs and DVD-As. I didn't try it with CDs.

Oh, I also have a CD changer in my car. I even have a cassette player built into the dash (2005 Nissan 350z).

I currently use a Sony CDP-215. Hardly high end but it works for me for now. Got it at the thrift store on the cheap!

Onix CD-3, made by the same China factory that made the legendary Music Hall 25 series. Dual Burr Brown 1738s dac,Philips 12.1 transport. Upsamples to 24/96. Heavy at 21lbs due to the power supply and shielding.Got it 10 years ago off Agon for under $300, never got upgradeitis after time spent with it. With a good CD, it equals vinyl.

Marantz cd48 picked up in Cash Converters about 15 yrs ago for £20.
Used to think it sounded pretty ok til Tuesday when a pioneer pl-12d arrived and brought some of my old records to life.
Now the Marantz is sounding a bit "flat" and not in an off-key way!!

All of my CD's have been ripped to a computer HDD. The SACD's that I have are played on a Yamaha DVD S-1800.

I have several Sony ES Players; but, mostly I play CDs, stereo SACDs, and multi-channel SACDs from an OPPO UDP-205. I let the Player decode and send analog to Sony TA-E9000ES and TA-P9000ES preamps. CDs and SACDs sound real nice by this means of enjoyment.

Capitalizing on the recent abandonment of cd format by many, I have collected a series of high end Sony cd players, including CD490, CD590 and CD790, which I rotate in and out of service with my main system. A second system uses a Technics SP-101 player which I love for it's clean "non-digital" sound reproduction. For extended sessions, I have a Sony changer CD635 which I bought new (all others being thrift buys)which was leading edge with DSP at the time. In the house, a simple but reliable JVC XL series changer gets occasional use. Until very recently, I enjoyed a Pioneer MD603 cartridge changer on a third system until it started having read problems. Now awaiting analysis and repair....Like many others, I use the CDs mostly when I am wanting music while doing other things, but my turntables get the call for serious listening most days. :D
