For swap (only): Technics SP-10 Mk.II

Post by valvehead » 17 Jan 2012 20:30

Wish to swap my Technics SP.10 Mk.II (inc. arm & cart) for either an SME 10 turntable.

Technics SP-10 Mk.2 - In very nice working condition. All spins up to speed perfectly, and very quickly. Runs completely silently. ALL electrolytic caps replaced with high quality replacements from Panasonic & BC Components. Main bearing has been carefully cleaned and re-oiled with genuine Technics oil for this model. I'd give the deck a solid 7.5/10 for visual quality - the platter has some hazing, and there's a few surface marks on the main deck. Original platter mat supplied and in v.good condition, plus a Michell record clamp.

Please note that the braking system has been professionally removed (a common mod for the SP-10 which slightly improves the sound) by Vantage Audio. So if you wanted the immediate stop function sadly this is not the deck for you. Secondly the strobe lamp is evidently on its last legs and will need replacing at some point - sometimes it fires up, sometimes it doesn't (the PSU supply for it is working perfectly fine however).

SP-10 PSU: ALL electrolytic caps replaced with quality replacements from Panasonic & BC. Voltages reset to correct factory specs.

Deck comes with a VERY basic 'starter' plinth - just a slab of MDF! Dropped onto the top of a hi-fi rack it does sound surprisingly good however.

Arm: the superb Jelco 750D - 6 months old and barely used. All packaging included. Perfect condition. Comes with Audioquest cable fitted. Fitted to the arm is a superb sounding Shure M75EJ which has been fitted with a state of the art Jico M75ED/2 'SAS' stylus:

I've kept a record of all the LPs played, and this stylus has seen 52 (cleaned) LPs played with it. Still looks/performs as-new.

Please PM me if interested (no offers please - deck is for swap only).

Cheers,

- John

P.S. Picture shows the deck with a different cartridge, not the Shure. If you require any further pictures please ask.

Would also swap for either a Weiss DAC202 or Bel-Canto DAC3.5.
