Marantz 6300 changing voltage?

Postby elgrillo79 » 09 Jul 2012 06:50

Hello im new in the forum and this is my first post. I hope you guys can help me.

I recently bought a TT 6300 and I read in other post that is possible to change the TT to work with diferents voltages. My TT is working in 120v now and im using a voltage converter (because in Peru we use 220v).

I opened the tt but I couldnt found any switch for changing the voltage. Someone could help me please? I feel a little bit dumb for asking this question , but Im a new in this :).

Sorry for my poor english, and tks a lot in advanced.

You will find the owner's manual ready to download in the library section of this site: just click on "library" on top of this page, you will be directed to the various Marantz models.
The way to adjust the voltage should be explained in the manual.
Good luck,

Cheers,

Hugh.

There is no switch according to the instructions. It runs on 120V 50/60Hz. To run on 220 voltage, converter as you are using is the only way I see, without changing the transformer in the TT (too much pain to to that!).As long as it runs at the proper speed ( according to the Internet in Peru the frequency used for 220 V is 60HZ so you should be OK)

Not quite true, the English copy in the VE library may be from a US version. If you look at the German user handbook, also in the VE library, it advises that it is set for 220V 50/60Hz but may be changed to various user voltages, 110/120/240 50/60Hz.

Thanks for the help guys. Im going to download the german version and see.
Like i said above , in an other post a guy changed the voltage of his 6300 by moving a switch/pot. Bit i dont find nothing.

Maybe there are variations in the 6300 tt depending on the region. But logicaly I will think that if they put a switch inside the TT is for practical porpose and to avoid making diferents TTS.

If some one knows about this switch i will be very thankfull with help , if its to much to ask a photo will be grate!

Thank you very much

Many products made for the North American market lacked the voltage switch that was present in other markets. This may have been because of some regulation or other.

Alec
